National Electric Vehicle Sweden, an electric car company run by Volvo Trucks boss Karl-Erling Trogen, is reportedly in line to acquire the assets of Saab.

This comes after the news that Youngman, the Chinese car company which was trying to buy Saab, withdrew from the process.

Very little is actually known about National Electric Vehicle Sweden but it is reportedly backed by Japanese-Chinese money.

Hans Bergvist, Saab's liquidator, refused to comment and told Sweden's TT news agency, "We are in an intense period and we're not commenting on the sale process."

If Saab can secure backing, there may be hope for the Swedish manufacturer yet. We've got our fingers crossed.
