Suzuki has added a new four-wheel drive model to its Swift line-up. The Suzuki Swift 4x4 goes on sale in the UK later this month, with prices starting from £11,516.

For this you'll get the entry-level SZ3 model; however, a higher spec SZ4 model is also available priced at £13,116 and includes electric folding door mirrors, integral indicators and daytime running lights as standard.

Apart from a smattering of 4x4 badges and a 25mm increase in ride height, the SZ3 looks largely identical to the standard Swift five-door. The SZ4 on the other hand gets a more rugged appearance courtesy of front and rear skid plates, black wheel arch extensions and black side skirts.

The Swift's four-wheel drive system is a fully automatic and permanent system which transfers additional torque to the rear wheels when needed. The system adds 65kg to the car's kerb weight.

Only one engine choice will be offered at launch -- a 1.2-litre petrol unit with 93bhp mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. CO2 emissions stand at 126g/km -- 10g/km higher than the standard car.
