Changes to the Alto will see modifications to the model’s exterior, interior and energy efficiency, Suzuki has announced.
CO2 emissions now fall under the 100g/km (99g/km) threshold meaning that the vehicle will be exempt from both road tax and the London Congestion Charge.
This change could see a £2,600 annual saving for British drivers who travel into London for five working days each week.
Alterations to the model’s exterior include new full wheel covers for SZ and SZ3 models and dipping rear view mirror as well as a new design interior colour and fabric trim. Drivers can also choose Glistening Grey metallic from the vehicle’s colour range.
All versions of the model come with the following safety features: ABS and EBD with Brake Assist, childproof rear door locks, front side impact protection beams as well as driver and front passenger air bags.
The vehicle has a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder K10B petrol unit with the European built entry-level Splash model. The Euro 5 compliant 12-valve engine has a power output of 68 ps. This produces a fuel consumption of 65.7mpg making it ‘one of the cleanest petrol-powered City cars on sale in the UK’ according to Suzuki.
The optional automatic transmission equipped SZ4 has reduced CO2 emissions from 118g/km from 122g/km. This has meant a drop in the VED band, from £95 to just £30, free in the first year.
“With outstanding performance in terms of fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions, Alto meets the lifestyle needs of today's motorists and the pressing global need for a reduced impact on the environment. Furthermore, it is one of the most fun-to-drive City cars available, a great example of Suzuki's "Way of Life!" philosophy,” added the manufacturer.
All Suzuki Alto models are covered by Suzuki Assistance, providing 24-hour UK and European roadside assistance, recovery and associated services as well as a 12-year perforation warranty. This is in addition to Suzuki Shield, a three-year/60,000-mile new vehicle warranty.
