The new Subaru Legacy Tourer is set to excite Subaru fans all over the globe thanks to some innovative modifications.
Technical improvements will characterise the 2012 version of the Legacy, including engine, suspension and aerodynamic tweaks.
The changes include a Boxer diesel engine, which is set to contribute towards reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The Euro 5-compliant power unit features a more efficient turbocharger, new exhaust-camshaft timing and lighter connecting rods. These will be partnered with a new oxidation catalytic converter and Diesel Particulate Filter.
The 2012 Legacy Tourer will also have its fuel economy increased to 49.6mph. CO2 emissions are also to be cut to 149g/km, which is a reduction of 7.5%.
No change in power or performance
Suspension modifications include new bushes for the front anti-roll stabiliser bar mounts, which improve ride comfort. There are also new pressed, upper rear suspension arms to reduce weight. The vehicle will have additional equipment that enhances value for money for all drivers.
The exterior changes are limited to new, aerodynamically smoother door mirrors, a higher-resolution rear view camera and the choice of a new Ice Silver Metallic colour.
Subaru have been very clear that, even in the face of all of these changes, they did not want to compromise on the power or performance levels of the original Legacy Tourer, a decision which will be welcomed by Subaru fans.
The diesel unit powers the car from 0-62mph in 9.6 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 120 mph.
The ease of operation and fuel efficiency have actually been improved. The wider gear teeth, new synchromesh, lower friction bearings and low-viscosity transmission oil combine to improve the vehicle's overall performance and refinement.
