Subaru has cut the price of its XV crossover by £2,300.

The price reduction has been made possible due to a more favourable exchange rate between the Pound Sterling and the Japanese Yen and means that buyers can now get behind the wheel of an XV for just £18,995.

The XV is available with permanent all-wheel drive as standard and is offered with a choice of three engines: a 1.6-litre petrol, a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel. The diesel will return 50.4mpg on the combined cycle and emits just 146g/km of CO2.

All XVs come with front, side, curtain and knee airbags as standard, as well as 17-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lights, heated front seats, a CD player and a multi-function display. The more premium SE models carry a £2,000 premium over the standard S models but also get cruise control, folding door mirrors, dual-zone air conditioning, rear view safety camera, Bluetooth and rear privacy glass.

The XV also comes with Subaru's five-year, 100,000 mile warranty as standard.
