Ssangyong is introducing a new basic version of its Korando crossover -- the Korando SX.
The Korando SX is available from £18,795 OTR and comes with a five year unlimited mileage warranty.
The Korando was styled by legendary Italian car design guru Giorgetto Giugiaro -- a man famous for styling the Lancia Delta, the Maserati 3200GT and, ahem, the Hyundai Pony.
Under the bonnet, the SX is fitted with a new, cleaner version of the Korando's 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine, developing 147bhp and 266lb-ft of torque. CO2 emissions have been reduced to 157g/km in the four-wheel drive model and 147g/km in front-wheel drive car.
Standard equipment on the Korando SX includes tinted glass, rear parking sensors, CD player with MP3 and Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, ESP and Hill Start Assist.
Ssangyong is also making a lot of noise about the Korando's Torque on Demand four-wheel drive system which monitors the amount of grip available to each wheel and distributes power accordingly. Under normal driving conditions, the power is sent to the front wheels only for improved fuel consumption. However, if the front wheels lose traction, the power is sent to the rear wheels as well to improve grip.
The Korando is available to buy now, with prices starting from £16,995 for the basic 'S' model, rising to £22,995 for the top-of-the-range 'EX'.
