Skoda has come away with two awards from the 2012 Auto Express Driver Power car ownership survey of 29,000 UK motorists.
Its Yeti 4 x 4 gained first place, while the Superb came in second. The manufacturer’s Octavia brand also secured fourth place.
“The Yeti strikes the perfect balance between on road performance, family orientated practicality and rugged 4x4 styling. With its choice of two or four-wheel drive, diesel and petrol engines, flexible Varioflex rear seating system, sizeable boot space and higher ride height, the Yeti is perfect for life in towns and cities,” says the manufacturer on its website.
Skoda also came out on top in 2011’s Driver Power Top 15, this time with the Superb in first place and the Yeti in second.
Commenting on the results, Steve Fowler, Editor-in-Chief of Auto Express, said: “Skoda clearly knows a thing or two about keeping its customers happy. It builds cars people love, while its dealers do all they can to please owners. Skoda’s advertising says that it’s the manufacturer of happy drivers – this year’s Driver Power survey shows it’s right!”
Jaguar XF, made in the UK, took fifth place this year while British-built Nissans took top spots in the new ‘technology’ category with the Juke in first place and the Qashqai in fourth.
Fowler added: “We know car buyers are seeing in-car technology as an increasingly important part of their car and car buying, while car makers are putting more efforts into gadgets and gizmos – Ford, for example, refers to itself as a technology company rather than a car company these days. But Ford has some catching up to do as Nissan is the company currently doing the most to impress its customers with in-car tech.”
The competition, in its 11th year, surveys motorists on all aspects of the ownership experience, including reliability, running costs and comfort.
