Skoda is celebrating a double win after its Yeti 4x4 took home two honours in end-year-of-year awards from respected specialist off-road driving magazines.

The latest honours bring the versatile 4x4 from Skoda up to a total of six trophy wins this year, an impressive haul that has also gone hand in hand with increased sales, which are up a third on last year.

The first of the honours came from 4x4 Magazine's '4x4 Of The Year' test. This test, which has been running for 22 years now, sees a panel of expert judges test drive all of the contenders in four categories for off-road vehicles. The Yeti came top of its class in the Mid-Range category.

Nigel Fryatt, the Editor of 4x4 Magazine, explained the Yeti's appeal saying:

"When you consider 'fit for purpose' and 'value for money', the Yeti is an impressive machine. The version with the full off-road electronic terrain options is more than capable of coping with conditions way in excess of what is likely to be attempted by potential owners - surely the creed of the true off-roader."

The second of the two awards came from Total 4x4 Magazine. The Yeti had already triumphed at the Total 4x4 Magazine awards last year, winning the crossover category and taking the overall title. This year the Yeti retained its crown as '4x4 of the Year' and also took home the magazine's 'Special Award for Best Value'.

The Total 4x4 Magazine Editor, Alan Kidd, said that the Yeti had taken everyone by surprise last year, but that:

"This year we were ready for it - but it still took our breath away. It's brilliantly conceived and superbly built, good to drive on the road and it'll do remarkable things in the rough. What's not to love? There are very few 4x4s, at any price, that I'd be happier to see on my driveway."
