Skoda has unveiled a sportier new version of its Citigo city car. The Skoda Citigo Sport comes with lowered suspension, bigger alloys and racing stripes.
The first thing to point out is that the Citigo Sport is not a true performance variant of the standard Citigo, but a performance-flavoured trim level. You get the same 1.0-litre three-banger under the bonnet and the same 59bhp as the standard car.
As is the way with this sort of the things, the devil is in the details. The Citigo Sport sits 15mm lower to the road than the standard model and this should have a positive impact on the car's handling.
The Sport spec is essentially the same as the existing SE trim level, but also adds a smattering of 'sporty' features, including black 15-inch 'Auguira' alloy wheels, smoked fog lights, tinted windows, front and rear spoilers, and a rear diffuser.
But the Citigo Sport's best feature has to be its racing stripes. Three colour combinations are on offer -- red with black stripes, black with red stripes, and white with red stripes -- and while you could argue that it's a little cheeky giving a 59bhp city car sporting credentials, we'd have to say that we like the way the Citigo Sport looks.
The Citigo Sport is available to order now, with prices starting from £10,290 for the three-door and £10,460 for the five-door.
