Skoda are celebrating a production milestone after their 14-millionth car rolled off the assembly line at the Kvasiny plant in the Czech Republic this week.

Although brand was founded in 1905, of the 14 million Skodas now produced almost two-thirds have been made since the company became part of the Volkswagen Group in 1991.

Last year was Skoda's record year, with 879,200 models sold worldwide, and the company has ambitions to reach 1.5 million annual sales by 2018. In order to achieve this the company has embarked on an expansion of its range, with the upcoming introduction of the Skoda Citigo into the UK this summer, as well as expansion in the emerging Russian and Asian markets.

The ceremonial 14-millionth vehicle is a Skoda Superb Laurin & Klement Edition bound for a customer in Germany.
