Spanish car maker SEAT is unveiling a new city car called the Mii, which it is billing as ‘the perfect vehicle for today’s urban lifestyle’.
The new SEAT Mii aims to combine a sporty design and high levels of craftsmanship, a fun driving experience, and good levels of fuel efficiency. It will go on sale in the Spain by the end of this year, and is due to hit showrooms in the UK by spring 2012.
The new city car from SEAT will be available in both three-door and five-door variants, and with a total length of just 3.55 metres it is certainly a compact car which will easily fit into any parking space. But despite the small size the Mii will still offer the largest luggage compartment in its class, with storage space of 251-litres, or 951-litres with the back seats folded down.
The Mii will be sold with a choice of 1.0-litre petrol engines created specifically for this new release, which offer power outputs of either 59bhp or 74bhp. The top speed for these engines is 99mph and 106mph respectively.
Buyers who place a high priority on the eco-friendliness of their vehicle will also be able to purchase a Mii Ecomotive which offers lower CO2 emissions of just 97g/km. This is achieved through a range of minor tweaks to improve efficiency, plus the addition of start/stop engine technology and brake energy recuperation.
There is also a wide range of innovative technology which has been fitted into the new Mii. One unique feature is the 'City Safety Assist', which uses a large sensor to recognise other vehicles and warns the driver in the event of danger. The system helps avoid collisions at speeds of up to 18mph, and can even apply the brakes automatically if necessary.
Available options include ESP, and the possibility to switch from the standard manual transmission to an automated manual 'box with two electric motors to help manage gear changes smoothly.
The chance to extensively personalise your vehicle is also a big part of the expected appeal of the new Mii, which is being offered with three equipment levels, two style packs, and a long list of optional accessories.
