SEAT has today revealed images of the next-generation Toledo, which will go on sale in the UK early next year.
The big news is that, despite the saloon car styling, the new Toledo is actually a hatchback. Small VW-based saloons have never fared well in the UK market -- the Polo saloon, the old Toledo, the Bora, the Vento etc. -- so it's understandable that the boot has been ditched.
The new Toledo is four centimetres longer than its predecessor and it certainly looks more grown up; the new car incorporates influences from SEAT's current design language such as its angular headlamps and trapezoidal grille.
Under the bonnet, it's the standard line-up of VW-derived petrol and diesel engines, including a 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre TSI petrol units and a 1.6-litre common-rail diesel. The petrol engines develop between 74bhp and 120bhp, while the diesel churns out 103bhp, emitting just 104g/km of CO2.
Full pricing, specification and engine details will be released closer to launch.
