The new SEAT Leon SC three-door will cost from £15,370 -- £300 less than the five-door -- when it goes on sale in the UK later this month.
Despite the two cars' common name, SEAT claims that the SC is more than just a three-door version of the standard Leon. The exterior has been redesigned from the A-pillars back, and there is a lower roofline, a more steeply raked rear screen and a redesigned tailgate.
Although the SC is 35 shorter than the five-door, the SC's boot has the same 380-litre capacity, and SEAT claims that there is "more than enough" rear head- and leg-room for adults.
The Leon SC will be available in three different levels of trim: S, SE and FR. S models come with air-conditioning, Bluetooth, a six-speaker MP3-compatible stereo with a touchscreen display, seven airbags, traction control and sports-shaped front seats.
SE trim starts from £16,490 and adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, ambient interior lighting, front fog lights, cruise control, 16-inch alloy wheels, hill-hold control and SEAT's XDS electronic differential lock system.
Top-of-the-range FR models get 17-inch alloy, redesigned front and rear bumpers, twin chrome exhaust pipes, tinted windows, FR sports seats, dual-zone climate control, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, LED tail lights and sports suspension.
The engine line-up is the same as the five-door, with a 104bhp 1.2-litre petrol, a 138bhp 1.4-litre petrol and a 1.8-litre petrol with 177bhp. Two diesels are also on offer: a 1.6-litre with 104bhp and a 2.0-litre with 148bhp.
Order books for the new SEAT Leon SC open on 15 April and the first deliveries are expected in early July.
