SEAT is introducing a new 2012 version of its most successful car - the Ibiza.

The latest SEAT Ibiza line-up offers a wide range of models, from the sporty three-door Ibiza SC to the five-door Ibiza and Ibiza ST estate. The engine line up runs from an efficient Ibiza E Ecomotive with CO2 emissions of 89g/km, to the more performance oriented Ibiza FR with 148bhp.

The new Ibiza styling for 2012 is designed to appeal to younger buyers, and points to the future direction of other SEAT models. The President of SEAT S.A. James Muir commented on this, saying:

"The Ibiza is an important foundation of our brand. With the new generation, we are taking a clear step forward - the fresh and young design language speaks to SEAT's unique and distinctive character. It underscores the precision and quality of our products. This makes the new Ibiza a crucial element in SEAT's strategy."

The new front face of the Ibiza features a trapezoidal grille emblazoned with the SEAT logo. This is flatter and has a horizontal honeycomb structure, and combines with a lowered air intake to emphasise the Ibiza's width. The bumpers at the front and back have been redesigned, and so have the headlamps. These headlamps are available in two halogen versions, or there is an additional option to add bi-xenon lamps and LED daytime running lights.

The engine line up for the new Ibiza includes petrol units ranging from a 1.2-litre 59bhp to a 1.4 TSI with supercharger and turbocharger. There is also a 1.2 TSI Ecomotive turbocharged 103bhp with start and stop technology offering fuel consumption of 55.39mpg.

The full prices and specifications of the new SEAT Ibiza will be announced before the expected launch this spring.
