SEAT is today celebrating a great start to 2011, after winning the MPV title at this year’s What Car? Awards for its Alhambra model.

The Alhambra, a seven seat MPV, is the largest member of the growing SEAT range. It went on sale in the UK last November offering buyers a mix of generous passenger and luggage space with a refined driving experience.

The What Car? Awards have been held every year for more than 30 years, and are widely seen as the most important automotive honours in the UK. This year's ceremony took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The SEAT Alhambra is available from £22,800 RRP and can be purchased in three trim levels - S, SE or SE Lux. Both retail and small fleet buyers can also currently benefit from SEAT's half VAT offer, which not only knocks off the cost of the recent hike in VAT from the OTR price, but actually brings down the VAT to its original 1973 rate of 10%. The half VAT offers will be available up until the 31st of March this year.

Both turbocharged petrol and diesel engines are available for the Alhambra, and there is also a choice between a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed DSG automatic transmission. The DSG 'box includes the extra option to use sequential manual operation through standard steering wheel mounted paddle shifts.

The entry level Alhambra S comes with a reasonable range of standard equipment including a three-zone climate control system and parking sensors. Moving up to the SE gives you a number of added extras, including automatic headlights and windscreen wipers. At the top end of the range, the Alhambra SE Lux features electrically-operated rear side doors and tailgate, rear view camera, satellite navigation, and a panoramic glass sunroof.
