The seven seat SEAT Alhambra has retained its title of ‘MPV of the Year’ in the 2012 What Car? Awards.

The What Car? Awards are judged by a panel of journalists from the What Car? magazine, and were announced last light in a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London. Praising its practicality, economy and refined driving experience the judges gave the title of MPV of the Year to the SEAT Alhambra for the second consecutive year.

The Alhambra is the biggest car in SEAT's range, and first went on sale in the UK in late 2010. It is available in three trim levels: S, SE, and SE Lux, and is priced from £23,525 on the road. A choice of engines is available for the Alhambra, including turbocharged petrol or more frugal diesel units. Apart from the entry level 2.0-litre TDI CR 113bhp all versions of the Alhambra come with a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed DSG automatic gearboxes with sequential manual operation using steering wheel mounted paddle shifts.

Last year the What Car? award marked the beginning of a very successful year for the SEAT Alhambra, which won other Best MPV titles from Auto Express, Diesel Car and Fleet World.

The Editor in Chief of What Car? Chas Hallet commented on the award:

"The Alhambra does what an MPV should: move up to seven adults in comfort. But it adds strong refinement, a keen price and low running costs, with up to 50 mpg.

"It's a very strong proposition for large families - a worthy MPV category winner, for the second year in a row."
