SEAT are opening up ownership of their sporty Leon Range of hot hatches to more budget-conscious buyers with the extension of the FR badge to a broader engine range, and the introduction of a new higher specification FR+ trim level.
Spanish car firm SEAT are clearly making value for money and affordability their highest priorities for this year. After introducing a wide range of special offers and new finance incentives they are now extending their FR badge variant to a wider range of engines on the sporty Leon range of cars, as well as introducing a new FR+ trim.
The SEAT FR hot hatch will now be available as a 1.4-litre TSI 123bhp with a manual transmission, or a 2.0-litre TDI CR 138bhp with a manual or DSG 'box. This addition of new, lower-powered turbocharged petrol and diesel engines will mean that the sporty FR range will now be available to buyers who have limited funds and do not want the extra insurance costs which go with a more powerful engine.
Leon FR hot hatches come with a wide range of sport styling features and equipment. These include FR front and rear bumpers, twin chrome exhaust pipes, LED rear-light clusters, silver painted door mirrors, automatic headlights, automatic rain-sensing wipers, parking sensors, FR sports seats and steering wheel, and auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
The new FR+ trim adds to this in terms of both performance and equipment. Additions include 18-inch Ibera alloy wheels, Bi-Xenon headlights with Adaptive Front-lighting System, and the SEAT Media System 2.2.
The SEAT Media System 2.2 comes with satellite navigation on a five-inch colour touchscreen with dynamic route guidance, DAB radio, Bluetooth phone connection and Bluetooth audio streaming, and an SD memory card slot.
SEAT's Leon FR line-up now starts at £18,205 for the Leon FR 1.4 TSI 123bhp and goes up to £22,615 for the Leon FR+ 2.0 TDI CR DSG-auto.
The improved FR+ trim is available to order now on SEAT's 2.0 TSI 208bhp and 2.0 TDI CR 168bhp engines. The extra cost for the FR+ is £1,070, which is reasonable considering that the total cost of all the equipment included amounts to £2,465.
