Rolls-Royce has revealed a new limited edition version of its Phantom Drophead Coupe which pays tribute to the water speed record success of Sir Malcolm Campbell.
The new Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe Waterspeed Collection will be unveiled today at the site of the original Bluebird Motor Company on the King's Road in London, before making its way to the Concorso d'Eleganza at Villa d'Este in September.
Designed to show off the range of personalisation options open to Rolls-Royce customers, the Waterspeed Collection is finished in Maggiore Blue -- a nod to the lake on which Campbell set two of his water speed records -- and was revealed in a series of teaser sketches earlier this year.
The blue paint is inspired by the colour of Campbell's Bluebird boats, while hand-painted Bluebird motifs, 11-spoke alloy wheels and brushed steel in place of the standard Phantom's teak decking complete the exterior transformation.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in grey leather and the armrest tunnel caps feature hand-engraved interpretations of the Bluebird motif. Abachi wood is also used in the interior, while the steering wheel features blue accents.
Mechanically, the Waterspeed Collection is identical to the standard car, with a 6.75-litre V12 engine developing 453bhp and 531lb-ft of torque.
Just 35 examples of the Waterspeed Colelction will be made, each with a price tag of £435,000.
