Renault has unveiled a new special edition version of its Megane Renaultsport, the 275 Trophy.
Set to make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month, the 275 Trophy is the latest in a line of limited edition Megane Renaultsports which began with the 265 Trophy in 2011 and continued with the Red Bull Racing RB8 last year.
Following on from the recent facelift of the Megane RS, the new 275 Trophy sits on Renault's Cup chassis, complete with a limited-slip diff, and gets a power upgrade.
Renault will be hoping that this is enough to steal back the Nurburgring lap record for a front-wheel drive production car from the SEAT Leon Cupra.
The Megane RS's 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine gets an extra 10bhp, taking the total power up to -- you guessed it -- 275bhp. The torque figure remains the same at 266lb-ft, while Renault quotes fuel consumption at 37.7mpg and CO2 emissions at 174g/km.
Other upgrades include the fitment of optional adjustable Ohlins dampers and springs and performance Michelin tyres. Visually, the 275 Trophy is differentiated from the lesser 265 by new Renaultsport graphics and 19-inch wheels.
Inside, the Recaro bucket seats are trimmed in leather and alcantara with contrasting stitching, and there's a new alloy gear knob.
Renault is keeping schtum on the pricing and specification information for the time being; however, we'd expect a slight increase over the current car's £27k price tag when it does go on sale.
The first deliveries are scheduled for October.
