Renault has unveiled a Trophy version of the Renaultsport Megane 250. Only 500 cars will be made and only 50 right-hand-drivers are coming to the UK.
The old Renaultsport Megane R26.R was a stripped-out speed machine. It stills holds the lap record at the Nurburgring for front wheel drive cars. Although it is unlikely that the new car will beat that record, the new Megane 265 is the most powerful road car Renault has made.
Renault has extracted another 15bhp from its 2.0-litre turbo engine, bringing the 0-60mph time down from 6.1 seconds to 6.0. Top speed has also seen an increase, having risen from 156mph to 158. The car also rides on the Cup chassis, which should help it put all that power down on the road. Equipment-wise, Recaro seats and yellow seatbelts come as standard, as do the 19-inch alloys.
The price is £27,820. This includes access to all of Renaultsport’s 2012 trackdays, with a value of about £650. You’ll be able to place an order for the Renaultsport on the 20th of this month and deliveries will begin next month.
