The Renault Twizy electric car will go on sale at the beginning of next year priced at £6,690 OTR, and can be reserved online from now for £20.
Two versions of Renault's innovative Twizy electric vehicle will go on show at the Barcelona Motor Show, both powered by a 17bhp motor. In addition to the basic version there will also be a higher spec Technic trim version priced at £7,400. The cost of the battery lease for both versions will be set at £40 inclusive of VAT for a 36 month contract which covers mileage of 4,500 miles per annum.
The Renault Twizy is designed to make city driving easy, with compact dimensions which make fitting into any parking space easy. It accommodates two occupants sitting in tandem - one behind the other - and offers a higher level of safety than a two-wheeled vehicle, whilst also being more agile than a car.
The 17bhp electric motor fitted to the Twizzy offers smooth and silent acceleration which is roughly comparable in performance to what you would expect to get from a scooter. It can be fully charged in a short time - just 3.5 hours - using a domestic electricity supply through a spiral cable which is stored behind a flap at the front of the vehicle. Because of the low weight of the Twizy - just 450kg including the battery which weighs 100kg - it has a good range of 62 miles (this obviously varies according to road conditions).
The unique wraparound bodywork and side deflectors of the Twizy offer drivers an enjoyable open-air driving experience, whilst still providing protection from the weather.
There are also some nice features which are included as standard with a new Twizy car. These include an all-purpose storage bag with a 50-litre capacity, a Parrot audio system including Bluetooth connectivity, USB connector, jack socket and Apple connector, and rear parking sensors. Optional extras such as coloured alloy wheels and decals can also be ordered by customers who want to give their Twizy a personalised look.
