The streets of London were host to an exciting new promotional film produced by Renault last Friday (30th March), as the manufacturer showcased its new electric vehicles.
Business representatives and local residents were all encouraged to test drive the new Renault Fluence Z.E. and Kangoo Van Z.E on a unique occasion.
Katie Watson, the London Borough of Camden Sustainability Officer, was effusive about the benefits of the event:
“This is a one-off promotional event to give everyone the opportunity to discover the benefits of electric vehicles for themselves. Many of those taking part will never have driven an electric vehicle and I am sure they will be impressed,” she said.
“The event promises to send out a really positive message about the future of electric motoring and this will be captured in the short film.”
The fundamental aim of the film was to raise awareness about the benefits of making the switch from traditional fossil-fuels, advocating the environmental benefits of electric motoring.
Both vehicles offer significant financial savings on fuel costs and road tax. They are also both exempt from the London congestion charge, something which is sure to be attractive to UK consumers who live and work in the English capital.
An increasing amount of manufacturers are working on creating more environmentally efficient vehicles, and consumers are beginning to come around to the benefits of electric vehicles in general.
Ford recently promoted its new environmentally friendly range, unveiling the latest Fiesta and Fiesta Van. Both vehicles have reduced their CO2 emissions from 96 to 87g/km.
The Energy Saving Trust was the main sponsor of the event, further enhancing the environmentally friendly credentials of an exciting day.
If manufacturers such as Ford and Renault continue to create innovative ways to showcase their electric vehicles, it is likely to be positive news for the environment as a whole.
