Renault has added a new gearbox and a range of new technology to its Clio and Captur ranges.
Both cars are now available with Renault's six-speed EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) gearbox with the 1.5-litre diesel engine. Renault claims that the gearbox offers the same sturdiness and running costs as a manual, but with improved fuel consumption and emissions. With the new gearbox the Clio will return 76mpg and emit just 95g/km of CO2.
In addition to this, the Clio is now offered with Renault's on-board telemetry and performance tracking system, Renaultsport Monitor 2.0, which is available on higher-spec models and the Renaultsport Clio, as well as a rear parking camera across the standard Clio range.
The Renaultsport Monitor collects data through a range of sensors, presenting it to the driver in real time through a series of dials and graphics on the dashboard. Among the things its monitors are engine speed, power, torque, turbo and brake pressures, acceleration and braking times and G-forces. There's even a USB stick, allowing the owner to download the data onto another device.
