At an awards ceremony held at the Detroit Auto Show the Range Rover Evoque was named as the ‘Truck of the Year’.

US motoring journalists have voted for the Range Rover Evoque as the 'Truck of the Year' at this year's Detroit Auto Show. 4x4 SUVs are much more popular in the US compared to the UK, so this will be seen as a big endorsement for the new compact Range Rover, which was launched last year and is also available in the UK.

The Range Rover Evoque is built at Jaguar Land Rover's Halewood plant just outside Liverpool. It has already won numerous awards from all around the world, but the firm is likely to see this as one of the most important.

The Car of the Year award was given to the Hyundai Elantra.
