Porsche is celebrating 50 years of its most iconic model with a new special edition model which is due to reach UK showrooms in September.
Just 1,963 examples of the Porsche 911 50 Years Edition will be sold worldwide, following the car's planned unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this year.
The 911 50 Years Edition is based on the existing Carrera S; however, Porsche has given the car a series of mechanical tweaks and styling modifications to differentiate the special edition model from its siblings.
The car uses the same 3.8-litre flat-six engine as the standard Carrera S but Porsche has widened the body by 44mm and added dynamic cornering lights, a sports exhaust system and a specially-tuned PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) system.
0-62mph takes 4.5 seconds -- the same as the Carrera S -- although opting for the PDK automatic gearbox brings this figure down to 4.3 seconds.
Styling tweaks include the fitment of new 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, which are inspired by the classis Fuchs wheels fitted to vintage 911s. Other changes include new wing mirrors, two new colour choices unique to this model and a range of special edition badging.
On the inside, the 911 50 Years Edition gets new green dials with white needles, brushed aluminium for the gear lever, doors and centre console, and tartan seats.
The Porsche 911 50 Years Edition is available to order now, with prices starting from £92,257.
