With their new hatchback set to be manufactured in the UK in 2014, Nissan have furthered their commitment to offering Brits the best opportunities by partnering with computing leader Intel to develop the best in-car features for their models.

The partnership will see the infotainment system (IVI) of select vehicles powered by the Intel Atom processor from next year, offering Nissan buyers technology-rich vehicles.

The IVI system was debited at the New York International Auto Show and features a twin-display which offers innovative features. Although the IVI system was debuted within the Infiniti LE (a model created by the Nissan Motor Company’s luxurious brand) it is expected to become a common feature of Nissan models thanks to the recent partnership.

The union is intended to offer a richer in-car experience, improving the comfort and practicality of vehicles whilst keeping both drivers and passengers well informed, entertained and safe at all times.

The twin-display system helps to split the content which is viewable by the car’s occupants so that drivers can see crucial information pertaining to traffic and navigation whilst passengers can enjoy films and other forms of entertainment without disrupting the driver.

Whilst the partnership is a new development for both firms it is far from the first time they have been paired together. Previous ventures saw the companies work together through Intel Labs to enhance in-car mobile connectivity.

Commenting on their recent partnership, Ton Steenman, Vice President of Intel’s Intelligent Systems Group, explained “technology and vehicles are integral components of everyday life and by combining the two, we can achieve a truly connected, mobile lifestyle.”

Nissan made similar comments with the Executive Vice President of Nissan Motor Company, Andy Palmer, labelling their twin-display as a “breakthrough feature” whilst claiming the Infinit LE model “showcases the concepts of smart hospitality” thanks to the partnership with Intel.
