Vauxhall have announced a change to their Astra GTC line up with the introduction of the so-called ‘Whisper Diesel’ engine to the range.
The 1.6-litre CDTi engine has previously been available in the Astra, Meriva, and Zafira Tourer, and now replaces the 1.7-litre CDTi engine in the Astra GTC range. The new engine offers an improved 134bhp, but this increase in power doesn’t come at the expense of running costs as it emits just 109g/km of CO2 while achieving a combined fuel economy figure of up to 68.9mpg.
The multiple injection system, and its re-designed components featuring the use of acoustic covers, also aid noise and vibration reduction from the 1.6-litre CDTi. It comes equipped with Start/Stop and a braking energy recuperation system, and is available in the Sport, Limited Edition, and SRi models in the Astra GTC range, with prices starting from £22,260. You can order a GTC with the new engine option now via Vauxhall’s dealer network.
“We are delighted to see the 1.6-litre ‘Whisper Diesel’ introduced into our flagship GTC model,” said Stuart Harris, Vauxhall’s Head of Carline Brand. “The new 1.6-litre engine is a result of significant investment and provides an exceptional blend of performance, refinement and economy.
