Subaru today announced the full pricing and specifications for the new XV All-Wheel Drive crossover.

The new Subaru XV Crossover will cost from £21,295 for the entry level 1.6i S model. At the other end of the range the 2.0D SE Lux Premium version of the XV is priced at £29,995.

The Subaru XV has a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, the main European crash testing organisation, who also named the XV as the safest vehicle in its class. The latest Subaru also scored particularly high for child occupant safety.

Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is fitted to all new XV crossover vehicles, and buyers are offered a choice of three Euro V-compliant Boxer engines. These include 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre petrol engines, and a 2.0-litre diesel. There is also a choice of either a five or six-speed manual gearbox, or a six-speed CVT automatic transmission which is available on the two petrol versions but not on the diesel variant.

The 1.6-litre petrol engine delivers power of 112bhp, while the 2.0-litre petrol engine delivers 148bhp and the 2.0-litre diesel unit offers 145bhp. Subaru is expecting the diesel version to be the most popular model in the UK as it offers the best fuel efficiency. The diesel engine enables the XV to accelerate from 0.60mph in 9.3 seconds, with fuel consumption of 50.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 146g/km.

The latest XV has the highest ground clearance in its class, along with the lowest centre of gravity, and therefore offers good handling on the road and on more difficult terrain. The usual three Subaru trim levels will be made available for this latest model, namely S, SE, and SE Lux Premium.

The lowest priced S level trim still offers a reasonable range of standard equipment, especially when it comes to safety related technology. This includes ABS, traction control, Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control, a complete set of front, side, curtain and knee airbags, as well as 17 inch alloys, automatic air-con, and daytime LED running lights.

All petrol engine variants also come with an Auto Start Stop System as standard to improve fuel economy, especially in heavy traffic. Both the 2.0-litre petrol and the 2.0-litre diesel versions also come with roof rails fitted as standard.

Upgrading to the SE trim level brings the addition of Bluetooth and USB connectivity, a rear-view camera, and cruise control. At the top of the range the SE Lux Premium trim level also offers a sunroof, Keyless Smart Entry, satellite navigation, leather seats, and push-button start.
