The new Range Rover Sport SVR will be the fastest, most powerful Land Rover ever built.
14th August will see the global debut for Land Rover’s latest offering. It will also signal a debut for the SVR designation which is set to accompany future high performance models by Jaguar and Land Rover.
The new Range Rover’s credentials are clear to see on the track and testing ground; it has impressively completed a lap of the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 8 minutes 14 seconds. It is capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds and has had its top speed limited to 162mph.
Its track performance is powered by a 5.0 litre supercharged V8 engine which has been modified to produce 550PS and 680Nm, an increase on previous models without the expected reduction in fuel efficiency.
John Edwards, Managing Director of Land Rover’s Special Operations, said: “The Range Rover Sport SVR is a natural progression beyond the core vehicle’s outstanding on- and off-road capabilities and leading-edge design. Its exhilarating performance will satisfy a particularly demanding customer set.’’
Off-road capabilities have been carefully improved and the new model will carry modified fully independent aluminium suspension which will automatically change between two ride heights. Their ‘Wade Sensing’ technology will give drivers depth information allowing them to safely wade up to 850mm.
Orders can be made from October this year and prices will start at £93,450.
