Nissan has announced a new 1.6-litre diesel engine for its Qashqai and Qashqai+2 ranges.
The manufacturer claims the new engine will see reduced emissions and running costs, and will replace the 2.0-litre dCi engine in the Qashqai and Qashqai+2 ranges. The new engine will have CO2 emissions of 129g/km on release, with this falling to 119g/km when Nissan adds its new Stop/Start system early in 2012. Nissan says the new models will be cheaper to buy than the 2.0-litre dCi models they replace, and will see a much improved combined fuel economy of 62.8mpg.
The 128bhp engine has also been engineered to deliver its maximum torque output at lower revs than its predecessor. Its 230lb-ft of torque now comes at 1,750rpm as opposed to 2,000rpm.
Nissan used the announcement to reveal another change to the Qashqai and Qashqai+2 ranges, with Tekna trim models now benefiting from an Around View Monitor as standard, giving drivers a 360 degree view through the Nissan Connect touch screen navigation system
