A prototype of Porsche’s new 2012 911 has caught fire during a test run in Steinegg, Germany.

The fire started in the engine bay and burned so intensely that the car was ablaze for a full fifteen minutes before fire fighters got the inferno under control.

Thankfully, no one was injured and Porsche have still not established the cause of the fire.

The incident had echoes of the Ferrari 458, which had to be recalled in September of last year when it was uncovered that an adhesive used on the car’s wheel arches has caused ten 458s to either catch fire or crash.

Porsche will obviously want to rectify this problem before the car goes on sale next year.
