Details of the newest addition to the MINI family have been released today.
The first thing you notice about the new Coupe is its styling. The roof of the new car is said to be modelled on a baseball cap worn back to front. Quite. It’s not ugly by any means; it’s just going to take a bit of getting used to.
Engines will be much the same as the units used in other MINIs, however there will be no ‘One’ model in the Coupe’s range, making the standard Cooper the base model. The options are Cooper (122bhp), Cooper SD (143bhp), Cooper S (184bhp) and John Cooper Works (211bhp).
Handling should be fantastic, given that all MINIs are good to drive and the new Coupe has a lower centre of gravity than its stable mates. The car comes as standard with a spoiler that pops up above 50mph to increase downforce. Optional sports suspension is also available that should make the Coupe even better through the corners.
Prices start from £16,640.
