Kia has unveiled its new revised Sorento, less than three years after the original model was launched.
And despite the new model's visual similarity to its predecessor, Kia claims that the new Sorento is a "front-to-rear and top-to-bottom re-engineering of the car".
The new Sorento features a more rigid bodyshell with addition structures to dissipate energy away from the occupants in the event of a crash. This should result in the Sorento earning the maximum five stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests.
All new Sorentos are powered by the same 2.2-litre CRDi turbodiesel engine, developing 194bhp and 311lb-ft of torque. Power is fed to all four wheels via either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox.
0-60mph takes 9.4 seconds in the manual and 9.5 seconds in the automatic.
Although the car's exterior dimensions remain unchanged, Kia has lowered the Sorento by 10mm. New dampers, larger suspension bushes and longer trailing arms have also been fitted and serve to make the new Sorento more comfortable and refined.
There's more space inside the new Sorento too. Middle row passengers benefit from 30mm more knee room, while rear seat passengers get an extra 9mm.
The new Kia Sorento is available to order now, with the first deliveries expected in December.
