The new Kia cee'd goes on sale in the UK on 1st June, with prices starting from £14,395 OTR.

The new cee'd has been styled under the direction of Peter Schreyer, the man famous for designing the Audi TT, and it does seem that the Korean manufacturer is now producing cars that are, aesthetically-speaking, just as good as their European rivals.

Kia have increased the cee'd's length by 50mm, allowing for a class-leading boot space of 380-litres and increased head- and legroom for both the front and rear passengers.

Four engines will be available from launch -  a 1.4-litre petrol, a 1.4-litre diesel, a 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel. The 1.6-litre petrol model develops a healthy 133bhp and 121lb-ft of torque while the 1.6-litre diesel manages tax-busting CO2 emissions of 97g/km and a combined cycle fuel economy figure of 76mpg.

The new cee'd should also be safer than its predecessor thanks to a stiffer body-shell of which 57% is made from high-tensile steel. All models also come with six airbags, stability control, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) as standard. Higher-spec models are also available with a colour reversing camera, Parallel Parking Assist System and a Lane Departure Warning System.

The cee'd will be available in five levels of trim - 1, 2, 3, 4, and 4 Tech - and all will comes as standard with a seven year, 100,000 mile warranty. Servicing is needed every year or every 20,000 miles, whichever arrives sooner.

Prices start at £14,395 for the base '1' 1.4-litre petrol model, rising to £23,795 for the '4 Tech' 1.6-litre diesel with the six-speed DCT gearbox.
