Cologne was the venue for the unveiling of Ford’s Edge 4x4 for 2015.

It will be the flagship for Ford’s SUV range on the European continent and will sell alongside the new Kuga and the new EcoSport. The manufacturer hopes that its ‘athletic’ appearance will appeal to a European market where quality is prized highly.

“We are leveraging our One Ford portfolio to offer a broader range of products to our customers in Europe. This year we have already launched EcoSport, with new Mondeo and Focus on the way,” said Stephen Odell, president, Ford of Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Next year, we will launch all-new Edge, new Mustang for the first time in Europe – as well as our Vignale range.”

Ford have incorporated advanced technology into the design as well as producing a vehicle which offers more passenger room and increased safety solutions. Adaptive steering will improve the driver experience and adjust the steering characteristics dependent on the road speed and conditions. Their noise cancellation system again seeks to improve the experience for the driver by maintaining cabin ambience.

A 180 degree camera system at the front of the vehicle will make it easier and safer to approach and negotiate junctions by offering extensive views of hazardous areas.

The Edge was first released in the US in 2007 and will finally reach the European market in 2015.
