The first MINI Coupe has rolled off the production line at the manufacturer's plant in Oxford.
MINI has reported strong order figures for the Coupe since it opened the books on the model, but the first example to roll of the production line is, says the manufacturer, destined to be used as a demonstrator model at one of its network of UK dealerships.
The MINI Coupe is the first two-seater model produced by MINI, and with the two-seater Roadster joining the line up in 2012 the MINI family has grown to five models. The MINI Coupe - like the Hatch, Clubman, and Convertible models - is to be produced at the company's Oxford facility.
The MINI Coupe features sports stripes on the bodywork, and a spoiler housed in its boot lid designed to aid aerodynamic balance and grip on the road by reducing lift at the car's rear axle. The new Coupe design also boasts the largest boot capacity of the current MINI range. It has already been used as the basis for the MINI John Cooper Works Coupe, which accelerates quicker and to a higher top speed than any MINI to roll off the Oxford production line to date.
Deliveries of the new MINI Coupe are scheduled to begin on 1st October, the manufacturer has confirmed.
