BMW has released details and images of its new 7 Series.
On the outside, the changes are subtle. The new 7 Series gets new LED headlights, a new grille and a redesigned front bumper which BMW claims channels air more efficiently around the front wheels.
Inside, the new Beemer gets revised front seats, a Bang and Olufsen stereo and more thorough soundproofing. 9.2-inch colour monitors can also be fitted to the back of the front headrests as part of the Rear Seat Entertainment package.
The new 7 Series also benefits from a new range of engines. There is a choice of two six-cylinder petrols, a 4.4-litre V8 which develops 444bhp in the 750i, and a 6.0-litre 536bhp V12 in the top-of-the-line 760i. Two diesel engines are also on offer in the 730d and the 740d. The 730d manages a combined 50.4mpg and emits just 148g/km of CO2.
BMW's eight-speed automatic gearbox is fitted as standard across the range alongside Stop/Start and regenerative braking. Electromechanical steering and air suspension are also fitted as standard.
The 7 Series should also be very safe -- the body shell is 60% stronger than that of its predecessor and the car is also fitted with a system that spots pedestrians in the dark and illuminates them.
The 7 Series goes on sale on 22nd September and prices start from £58,115 for the 730d, rising to £104,050 for the top-of-the-range 760Li.
