BMW is set to expand its 6 Series range with the introduction of the new 6 Series Gran Coupe.
The new car is BMW's first four-door coupe and the German firm claims it "combines the elegant and sporty appearance of a classic grand tourer with the space and ease of access of an executive saloon."
The Gran Coupe will be offered with a choice of three engines: a six-cylinder petrol, a six-cylinder diesel and the range-topping 450bhp V8 petrol. All models come as standard with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The V8 engine in the 650i propels the Gran Coupe from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds and all models are electronically limited to 155mph.
The 6 Series Gran Coupe is extremely light; much of its body and chassis are made from aluminium. This, combined with Start/Stop technology, means that the diesel model will nudge 50mpg and even the V8 petrol will top 30mpg. CO2 emissions range from 148g/km for the oil-burner, rising to 206g/km for the V8.
The 6 Series Gran Coupe goes on sale next month with prices starting from £61,390 for the six-cylinder petrol. The V8 model starts at £70,650.
