Mazda's hugely popular MX-5 celebrates a quarter-of-a-century in production this year, and to mark the milestone the Japanese car maker is releasing a special limited edition model.
The Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe 2.0-litre 25th Anniversary Limited Edition will have a production run of just 1000, with each vehicle uniquely numbered. Based on the MX-5 Roadster Coupe 2.0-litre Sport Tech Nav, the 25th Anniversary Limited Edition will be finished in a unique Soul Red Metallic and Brilliant Black door mirrors, A-pillars, and retracting hardtop roof. Other features of the limited edition model are 17-inch dark gunmetal alloys, rear diffuser, chrome exhaust trim, and 25th Anniversary badging.
Inside there is a light stone leather trim with contrasting red stitching on the steering wheel, and gear and handbrake levels, as well as 25th Anniversary embossed headrests. The dash features a hand-painted, dark red decor panel, and there are alloy pedals and stainless steel 25th Anniversary badged scuff plates. The UK model also comes with a 6.1-inch touchscreen Mazda Navigation System by Alpine.
With a 0-62mph time of 7.9 seconds, the MX-5 tops out at 136mph.
Now in its third incarnation, the MX-5 was originally introduced to the world at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show. Production passed the 900,000 mark in February 2011, earning the MX-5 a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the worlds most successful two-seater sports car.
The Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe 2.0-litre 25th Anniversary Limited Edition will make its public bow at this months Goodwood Festival of Speed, and will go on sale on 1st August.
