Self-drive cars have been in the news a lot recently. Yesterday we told you about Volvo's SARTRE convoy of autonomous vehicles, and earlier this month we reported that the US state of Nevada has approved laws permitting self-drive cars to use the public roads.
However, a recent study from the car supermarket Motorpoint has revealed that UK motorists may not be comfortable with the idea of a car which drives itself.
Motorpoint surveyed 2,000 of its website users and found that 58% of them would be unwilling to let the car do the driving.
Is this unwillingness to adopt autonomous cars borne out of suspicion for the technology, or do people still simply enjoy the act of driving a car? David Shelton, Motorpoint Managing Director, said, "it seems that people still love the thrill of the drive, and in this sunny weather there isn't much that beats a winding country road."
Are you for or against self-drive cars? Do you still enjoy barrelling down a B-road or do you think that the thrill of driving has been lost from modern motoring? Leave your comments below.
