Mitsubishi has confirmed that a new special edition of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X will be coming to the UK as part of the 40th anniversary of the firm's launch in Britain.

The new Lancer Evolution X FQ-440 MR special edition will be priced from £50,000 and will feature an ECU remap, which will increase the output of its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine to 440bhp. Other modifications include a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and a new air intake, exhaust, turbo, intercooler and manifold.

In addition to this, the car has been lowered by 35mm at the front and 30mm at the back, while new 18-inch alloys, xenon headlights, front fog lamps and new 'motorsport' windscreen wipers complete the exterior transformation.

Inside, there are Recaro bucket seats, a leather sport steering wheel, an seven-inch LCD touchscreen with sat-nav, and an eight-speaker sound system. Climate control, USB and SD card connectivity and Bluetooth are all included as standard.

Just 40 examples of the Lancer Evolution X FQ-440 MR will be coming to the UK, all of which will be finished in white.

Lance Bradley, Mitsubishi's UK boss, said "The Lancer Evolution has always been a halo model for Mitsubishi and this special edition is no exception. More powerful than ever before and with a very limited availability, it will be a 'must have' for all die-hard Evolution fans."
