His career with the Mercedes F1 team might be over, but Michael Schumacher is preparing to take on another role at Mercedes.

The seven-time F1 World Champion is to take on an ambassadorial role within Mercedes' road car division, and will reportedly be involved in the development of the firm's future performance models.

Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn spoke of Schumi's continued involvement with Mercedes, saying: "He will have involvement in some of the commercial activities, mainly with the car company as opposed to the racing team.

"I have spoken to Michael a few times and he has an enthusiasm, wants us to do well. But Michael wants to work exclusively with the car company.

"The development of models, particularly high performance cars, is something he enjoys very much."
