Mercedes-Benz has unveiled pictures of the new SLS AMG GT, a revised version of the company's supercar with more power, improved suspension and styling tweaks.
The engine remains the same as in the old model -- a 6.3-litre V8 -- but Mercedes has managed to coax an extra 20bhp from it, boosting the SLS AMG GT's total to an impressive 575bhp. The boffins at the AMG skunk works have also been fiddling around with the Speedshift seven-speed double-clutch gearbox and have managed to bring the 0-62mph time down to 3.7 seconds.
The GT's suspension has been thoroughly revised too. The GT's AMG Ride Control dispenses with the old 'Comfort' mode, and drivers now have the choice of just two settings: 'Sport' and 'Sport Plus'. 'Sport Plus' firms up the dampers and adjusts the setup for performance driving, "such as when trying to achieve fast lap times on a race circuit such as Hockenheim," Mercedes claims.
The new SLS is distinguished from the standard car by its smoked headlights and red brake callipers, as well as a GT badge on the boot lid. Inside, the GT is trimmed in your choice of single- or two-tone leather, stitched in a diamond pattern on the AMG sports seats. In case that wasn't enough, you can also opt for carbon-fibre door mirrors, engine compartment cover and interior trim.
There is no word from Mercedes yet on pricing, although expect to see the SLS AMG GT in Mercedes showrooms from October.
