Mercedes has revealed a track-only version of the SLS AMG to celebrate the 45th anniversary of AMG.

Only five SLS AMG GT3s will be built, with each one costing €446,250 (around £360,000) -- nearly £200k more than the standard SLS.

The limited-edition model is based on AMG's GT3 track car and comes with a 'designo magno graphite' matte paint finish, full roll cage, carbon fibre dash and silver seatbelts.

Each car also comes with a unique '45 Years of Driving Performance' logo on its gullwing doors, and a special plaque, denoting the car's limited-edition status.

All five SLS AMG GT3s are hand-built, and the car's 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 is fitted by Mercedes test driver and five-time DTM champion Bernd Schneider.

All cars will have to be collected in person from the Merc AMG factory in Affalterbach, Germany, and buyers can also request to receive some track driving tuition from Mr Schneider in their new car.
