Mercedes-Benz has revealed the pricing and specification for the new E 300 BlueTec Hybrid, the most fuel-efficient E-Class yet.

The Saloon will be priced from £39,645 OTR, while the Estate variant starts at £41,435.

Both the Estate and the Saloon models are fitted with the same 2,143cc four cylinder diesel engine which generates 204bhp and 369lb-ft of torque. This is coupled with a 20kW electric motor powered by a 19kW electric battery.

The E 300 BlueTEC's clever hybrid drivetrain allows the car to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 7.5-seconds (7.8 seconds for the estate) and on to a top speed of 150mph (144mph). When fitted with 16-inch wheels, the E 300 will return 65.7mpg on the combined cycle and emit just 109g/km of CO2.

Standard equipment includes leather upholstery, sat-nav and LED daytime running lights.

Deliveries of the new E 300 BlueTEC are expected to start in November.
