The Megane Renaultsport 250 Cup has won the title of 'Best Hot Hatch' in the 2012 What Car? Awards for the third consecutive year.

Despite going up against a range of faster and more expensive rivals the Megane Renaultsport 250 Cup has been named as the Best Hot Hatch of 2012 in this year's What Car Awards. The ceremony took place last night at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, and the judging panel (made up of What Car? magazine journalists) said that none of the Megane's rivals could match the "blend of power and poise that marks out the Renault."

The Editor in Chief of What Car? Chas Hallet commented on the success of the Megane, saying:

"The Mégane Renaultsport 250 Cup is the perfect hot hatch. Most importantly, it's engaging and huge fun on an empty country road, but it's also practical enough for everyday use. It's a comfortable winner of our Hot Hatch of the Year award."

Renault also celebrated a second success in the awards, with the Clio Renaultsport 200 Cup winning the 'Best Buy' award in the £15,000 - £20,000 category.
