Last September, we told you about Mazda's new CX-5. Now Mazda has announced that the CX-5 is set to make its UK debut.
The CX-5 will go on sale from 18th May with prices starting from £21,395 and rising to £28,795. Buyers will have a choice of two engines - a 163bhp 2.0-litre petrol or a 2.2-litre diesel, developing 148bhp or 173bhp. The CX-5 will also be offered with the choice of two- or four-wheel drive.
The big news is the introduction of Mazda's Skyactiv technology, which allows for excellent fuel economy and low CO2 emissions - the lower-powered diesel model will emit just 119g/km of CO2 and return an impressive 61.4mpg.
The CX-5 will be available with the option of four trim levels: SE-L, SE-L Nav, Sport and Sport Nav. All models come equipped with alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth, cruise control and a 5.8-inch multimedia display screen. Also included on all models is Mazda's 'Smart City Brake Support', a system which brakes the car automatically at speeds of up to 19mph if an imminent collision is detected.
Peter Allison, Sales Director at Mazda UK, said, "The arrival of Mazda's first vehicle with its innovative SKYACTIV technology is about to transform the Compact SUV segment in Britain."
Mazda is certainly hopeful that the CX-5 will be a hit, predicting 4,000 sales in the UK in the first year alone.
