An American motorist has been reunited with his car, 42 years after it was stolen.

Bob Russell's Austin-Healey, similar to the one pictured above, was stolen in Philadelphia in 1970, when he was a student at Temple University.

Russell found his car on eBay -- it was being advertised by a Los Angeles car dealer.

Thankfully, the local police still had the original stolen vehicle report and Russell was reunited with his car after paying $600 (£390) in impound fees.

Russell told Associated Press that he plans to restore the car to its original condition.
