Lotus has announced the creation of a limited edition of its Exige S sports car to celebrate the marque’s Formula One pedigree.
The limited edition Exige LF1 will sport a black and gold paint scheme with matching interior trim in homage to the Lotus F1 team.
There will be just 81 examples produced, in honour of the 81 grand prix victories achieved by Lotus from Stirling Moss’ 1960 win in Monaco to Kimi Raikkonen’s triumph in Australia last season.
Individually numbered with a carbon fibre build plate, the 3.5-litre supercharged V6 Exige LF1 will also feature a dynamic performance management system, two-piece high-performance brake discs, and Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tyres on gold 17-inch front and 18-inch rear alloys. The 345bhp will do 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds to a top speed of 170mph.
The Lotus Exige LF1 makes its public bow at this weeks Canary Wharf Motorexpo in London, and will also appear the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed from 26-29 June.
Full pricing details are to be announced, but the purchase price will include a factory tour for two of Lotus Cars’ Hethel production plant, a factory tour for two of Lotus F1’s Enstone HQ, a collector’s edition owner’s pack, a 1:2 scale replica of current Lotus F1 racer Romain Grosjean’s helmet, and Lotus F1 Team key fob and USB stick.
