Lexus has revealed its new range-topping LS model which boasts improved styling, new technology and, for the first time, a hot F Sport model.
What's new in the Lexus LS?
The LS has undergone a major redesign and features Lexus's new corporate spindle front grille. On top of this, all of the LS's lights are now available with LED technology, and the car's fog lights incorporate new L-shaped daytime running lights.
Lexus also claims that the new car is "among the quietest and most comfortable cars in the world" thanks to improved sound insulation.
How fast is the new Lexus LS?
Two engine variants will be made available: the LS 460 and the LS 600h hybrid. However, Lexus has not announced performance figures on either of the two models.
Lexus LS F Sport
For the first time, Lexus's luxury barge will be available as a performance-oriented F Sport model. The ride height has been lowered by 10mm and Lexus has fitted huge six-piston Brembo brakes; a flappy paddle gearbox which blips the throttle on downshifts; a Torsen limited-slip differential; and a system which amplifies the sound of the engine into the cabin. Nice!
What technology do you get in the new Lexus LS?
The LS gets a revised 12.3-inch sat-nav screen with full internet connectivity and UK buyers will also get a Blu-Ray player and a 19-speaker surround sound system.
The new car also comes with the Lexus Climate Concierge system, which uses 13 sensors to assess the temperature inside the cabin and automatically control the climate control, heated seats and heated steering wheel accordingly.
How safe is the new Lexus LS?
In a word: very. Not only is the new car absolutely vast, it is fitted with Lexus's Advanced Pre-Crash safety system which is designed to help the driver avoid an accident and, if the accident cannot be avoided, minimise the damage caused by it. A Lane-Keep Assist system is also available, as is a Blind Spot Monitor.
How much will the new LS cost?
Lexus has yet to reveal the price list for the new car, but expect further details to be released closer to the car's launch later this year.
